10 Tips to achieve long lasting and flawless makeup base

Most of us feel that we don’t know how to do a good makeup, but do u know by following some tips and tricks you can actually achieve flawless and long lasting makeup. The major problems which we generally face are, that our makeup is looking artificial, dry flakes on our skin, not staying for long etc. So here are some tricks which if followed can help to achieve natural looking makeup.

Tip 1- Know your skin type

One should know its skin type and accordingly choose the foundation base ,So person with dry skin can go for cream based foundation ,or oil based foundation(for extremely dry skin only) and person with oily skin can go for mousse or whipped foundation ,stick foundation or, powder compact foundation, whereas combination skin can apply normal liquid foundation.

Tip 2- Choose the right shade
The biggest problem because of which our makeup looks artificial is that we don’t apply right shade of foundation. We all need to understand that foundation is not meant to make you look fairer, it actually meant to neutralize your skin color and hide pigmentation and spots. Hence we need to choose the right shade, and for that never get it checked on your hand in fact check it on to your chin that will guide you better and in case you are purchasing from the open  market then step out of the store and check that in the natural lighting. There are lot of times you don’t get the exact shade of your foundation (don’t be disheartened) what you can do is buy two shades of foundation between which your skin color is falling and mix them to get your right shade.

Tip 3- Prep up your skin
Before applying makeup we have to prepare our skin for it.For that first of all clean your skin thoroughly with water and pat dry. Then apply moisturiser for hydration, make sure you apply good amount of it as it help the foundation to glide on easily and wait for some time till it get absorbs in the skin. Now its time to put some primer which helps the makeup to stay for longer period of time and it also makes a sheer cover on your face so that makeup products does not get into your skin directly and affects the pores, So primer also fills up the pores and make your face a smooth canvas to put makeup on.

Tip 4- Use Beauty blender or your fingers
To make our foundation look natural on our skin we have to blend it well, especially at all the corners of our face as well as on the neck area. Blending it with a brush can take hours moreover sometimes brush strokes are visible on the face which looks odd .We should use a wet beauty blender, makeup sponge or our wet fingers. Water helps in smooth blending so just wet your fingers and spread foundation all over and with the warmth of your hand your foundation will penetrates well and looks flawless.

Tip 5- Build layer by layer
All of us love to wear heavy foundation makeup while going to a party or an event and most of the times we are running late so we tend to put lot of foundation and then keep blending to get heavy coverage and end up looking overdone!!!!! We should never attempt to put lot of foundation at once to achieve heavy coverage instead we should build layer by layer. I know it will consume lot of time but trust me on this your makeup will not look overdone because when we build layer by layer the foundation start absorbing into the skin and we get an idea as how much more is required and accordingly we apply more foundation.

Tip6- Conceal the pigmentation and dark spots
To hide the pigmentation and dark spots we need to apply concealer over the foundation and dap it into the skin with the same blender which we have used to apply the foundation. Choose concealer which is one shade lighter to the foundation and also use concealer under your eyes, on to your nose ,near your mouth to hide pigmentation or dark circles. After this apply loose powder or compact powder on the concealed area so that it does not crease.

Tip 7- Lock the foundation
Once your base makeup is almost done ,now lock it by spraying a makeup fixer and immediately dry it out under the fan and leave it for about 10 minutes .Make sure you keep a good  distance between your face and spray while spraying and do not pump more than 3-4 sprays. After 5 minutes you can take the same blender and start dapping on the face ,it push the product inside the pores which makes the foundation looks dewy as well as natural.

Tip 8- Do not apply blush just after spraying makeup fixer
Once makeup is fixed we should leave it for some time for about 15 minutes and then apply blush or a highlighter otherwise if you apply powder blush it will not spread evenly on the cheeks. Always apply blush on apple of your cheeks and highlighter on your cheek bones, anytime you feel the highlighter is overdone just take your foundation blender and even out the excess.

Tip 9- Contour only if required
Contouring is trending these days but every face do not require contouring. Contouring is especially to highlight your features and cut and crease your face. People with round face generally need to contour their cheeks, jawline, and to hide double chin. Girls who have sharp features and their face is thin, they should not attempt to contour as this will make their face more chiselled.

Tip 10- Lock the makeup
As per tip 7 we have locked the foundation, now the time is to lock the entire makeup to make it look seamless and blended. For that, spray the fixer again and dry it out immediately under the fan and you are good to go.
